Asalha Bochea

Asalha Bochea recalls the Buddha’s first discourse in Theravada tradition. It offers an opportunity to learn about the Middle Way and the Four Noble Truths.

When it happens

Asalha Bochea lasts one day, on the fifteenth waxing day of Asadh in the rainy season. In a double-Asadh year, the later month governs this retreat cycle. In 2026 it falls on 29 July, the day before the 30 July retreat opening documented by AKP. The 2027 civil date requires confirmation against the Khmer lunar calendar and monastery programme.
